ACADEMIC INFORMATION

 

The courses offered at Kapsabet Bible College are intended to help deepen the student’s knowledge of God’s word and to prepare pastors and church workers for ministry.  Every institution must have certain standards and Kapsabet Bible College encourages al her students to strive to attain the standards laid down by the school.

 

ACADEMIC STANDARDS

 

All incoming students are on probation for one year. A minimum average of 60% is expected to enable a student to pass from one year to another.  Because the course requirements increase in the final two years at Kapsabet Bible College an average of 65 % is needed in Second year to allow students to enter the final two years of study.

 

CORE COURSES

 

These courses represent important areas of study in the academic life of Kapsabet Bible College.  During the student’s time of study at Kapsabet a high percentage of these courses are required to be passed to enable students to continue their studies at Kapsabet Bible College.  To graduate a student must have 60% in at least 2/3 of all core courses taken.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS:-

A student who wants to graduate from Kapsabet Bible College must meet the following requirements:

 

  • All Accounts completely paid by graduation time.

  • Final year of studies must be done at Kapsabet Bible College.

  • For the entire four years a minimum average of 65% is required.

  • In addition to course work, the entire Bible must be read once by the end of term 2 in fourth Year.

  • Have obtained 60 % in at least 2/3 of the core courses taken.

  • Have completed his “term-out” and “week-end ministries” successfully.

  • Kapsabet Bible does not see academic studies separated from the spiritual life of each student. 

Therefore, through out the time a student is attending Kapsabet Bible College, a consistent Christian character is a requirement to continue studies at Kapsabet Bible College and also to graduate. The Term-Out in area churches must be satisfactorily completed.

 

DEAN’S LIST

 

This is given at the end of each term to recognize those students who have earned high grades.  Each student with an A minus (90%) average or higher for the term will be on the Dean’s list.

 

DIPLOMA AND HONORS DIPLOMA

 

Upon successful completion of the four years at Kapsabet Bible College each student will receive the Kapsabet Diploma.  Those failing to complete the entire diploma course, for any reason will receive a letter of attendance from the school.  The honors Diploma is award to those students who have a 90 % average or high over their four years study at Kapsabet Bible College together with faithful practical work and good conduct

 

STUDY TIME

 

Kapsabet Bible college sets aside specific times for students to study.  Students are asked to study in their classrooms in a manner that will not disturb the rest of the student body.  Class prefects are responsible to insure that satisfactory order is kept during study times

 

CLASSROOM CONDUCT

 

All students must respect their teachers in the classroom. The teacher is free to examine (test) the student over the material the way he feels best.  The teacher is free to give objective or essay typed questions or a mix between the two.  The teacher is free to retain examinations, so that they are not seen by up coming classes.  The teacher is free to limit questions in class, so as to get through his / her material.  If a class has a problem, they should go through the class prefect to the class subject teacher concerned or to the class master.

 

ATTENDANCE IN CLASSES

 

Kapsabet Bible College encourages all students to attend classroom instruction.  A class period is 50 minutes. At the beginning of each period there is a short devotion. Class attendance is a requirement for all students. The student is expected to be in class in time. If a student continues to be late for his classes or misses too many class periods he will loose credits. The school will allow a student to miss a total of one week of class in any given subject over the entire term.  For example, if the missed two classroom periods per week, then the total misses allowed is two.  If the course has three classroom periods per week, then a total of three misses is permissible.  Any student missing additional class time will have two marks per class missed deducted from the final grade for the course.

 

GRADE RANGE – 

 

A    90 – 100  Excellent Work 

B    80 – 89    Above Average

C    70 – 79    Average

D    60 – 69    Below Average

E     50 – 59    Failure (allowed to write another Exam, if the E is in one of our core Course)

F.    Below 50 Failure

 

EXAMS

 

At the end of every term the students write a final exam on all the courses taken during that term. The result of the final exam together with their academic performance during the term will be the grade which appears in their report sheets. Each student receives a report sheet at the end of the term and is required to show the report sheet to his sponsor.

A first year student is required to score at least 60% average at the end of his school year. If he is below 60% he may be asked to drop school. A second year student who fails to achieve 65% average at the end of his second year will be advised to discontinue his studies.

 

In special cases there might be exceptions to the above mentioned requirements, however, at the end of the four  years’ training, the student then will not receive a Diploma from the College but instead a letter of attendance depending on the recommendation of the faculty of Kapsabet Bible College.

 

TRANSFER OF CREDITS

 

If a student wants to transfer to Kapsabet Bible College from another school he must write to the College to consider his case. If there is a vacancy the College requires an official transcript from the former school for evaluation and might then accept the applicant The College maintains the full right to accept or not to transfer credits from another school.

 

DISMISSAL

 

A student may be asked to leave the College not only because he does not meet the academic requirement as mentioned before but also when his behavior and attitude is questionable according to Christian standards.

We expect the student not only to gain academic knowledge but put great importance in the development of his spiritual life. Any student with un-Christian conduct, such as leading an immoral life, stealing or cheating, using alcohol or drugs will be suspended followed by an official dismissal letter from the College.
